PUNK ROCK PRINCESS

MELBOURNE, AUS
ABOUT:
Bio:
The busiest woman in punk, Beth Seymour, has been a mainstay of Melbourne’s music scene across three decades. Equal parts Brody Dalle, Liz Stokes and Laura Jane Grace, the prolific writer/producer and proud trans-woman continues to release her idiosyncratic brand of alternative music, combining earnest lyricism, power-pop melodies and a punk attitude. Accompanied by her faithful backing band, The Lizzies, Beth produces bittersweet music that sets tales of pain, suffering and dysphoria to an upbeat, catchy and danceable rhythm; proving that, while we may all feel awful, we might as well feel good and look good while doing it.
LONG Bio:
The busiest woman in punk, Beth Seymour, has been a mainstay of Melbourne’s music scene across three decades. As an established singer-songwiter prior to coming out as transgender in 2023, Seymour (née Seymoup) released an extensive discography, toured the country, and supported acts such as Camp Cope, Slowly Slowly, The Hard Aches and Mikey Erg (USA).
Making a fresh start since returning to music in 2025, Beth has pulled no punches in releasing devastatingly personal music about her own personal tragedies and her journey of self-realisation. Equal parts Brody Dalle, Liz Stokes and Laura Jane Grace, the prolific writer/producer has triumphantly re-established her idiosyncratic brand of alternative music, combining earnest lyricism and power-pop melodies with a punk attitude.
Accompanied by her new backing band, The Lizzies, Beth produces bittersweet music that sets tales of pain, suffering and dysphoria to an upbeat, catchy and danceable rhythm; proving that, while we may all feel awful, we might as well feel good and look good while doing it.
2025 will see the release of two self-produced albums by Beth Seymour & The Lizzies: You Wouldn't Like It Inside My Head and Outside, You'd Love Me To Death. This astounding debut by Melbourne's favourite problem child tells the story of Beth's breakdown and recovery; her death and resurrection into the person she was always meant to be. The band will surely be a new favourite for anyone who has ever felt unsure of their place in the world.
